Governance Conference
We had a fantastic day on Saturday 14th September at our annual Governance Conference, to begin the 2024 academic year.
Our Directors and Local Governors make an incredible contribution to our schools and communities year round, contributing many hours, if not days, of their time as volunteers for their community. They support our schools and the Trust strategically though their meetings, through a presence within school events and by acting as true local ambassadors.
Through the conference, we celebrated their proudest moments over the last year - helping our schools to make progress and our children and young people to succeed. Some of these included:
“Being part of governing team that overseas improvements to children's education and wellbeing and the improvements to the school for the children's learning.”
“To see our school making great strides in improving the lives and prospects of the children in our care, through the development of a stable, focused and well led workforce in a relatively short time period.”
On the day, Governors received updates from senior leaders regarding key school and Trust priorities for the year ahead, networking time to meet their counterparts from other boards and breakout sessions on specialist topics including buildings, budgeting, compliance and preparing for meetings. The day also included an interactive session on governor voice to ensure that everyone's contributions were heard.
We have already received some fantastic feedback from attendees and are looking forward to next year's event, and all of our upcoming bespoke training sessions for Directors and Governors.
"I most enjoyed being able to see the good work that is happening across all schools in the CMAT, time together as a group and being able to celebrate mass at the end of the session."
"The welcome into the trust was a really lovely touch. The event was so well organised and designed to make everyone feel so welcome. The signage presented to schools was a highlight. I found the workshops very useful, especially the exploration of a headteachers report in the ‘asking the right questions’ workshop."
Thank you again to everyone who is part of our governance team across all schools, we hugely appreciate everything you do for our pupils, staff and families!
